Ingredients:


1/2 kg tapioca / kappa / kolli kizhangu

1 cup grated coconut

2 garlic cloves

1 tsp mustard seeds

1-1 1/2 tsp chilli powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

salt to taste

1 tsp mustard seeds

2 dry red chillies

1 sprig curry leaves

1 tbsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. Peel and cut the tapioca into small cubes and wash thoroughly.
  2. Grind together grated coconut, garlic, cumin seeds and chilli powder to a coarse paste adding little water and keep it aside.
  3. Boil water in a pan and add tapioca pieces and cook well adding turmeric powder and salt till soft.
  4. Drain the water from tapioca and transfer to the same pan and mash it well using a wooden spatula when it is still hot.
  5. Add ground coconut paste and little water and mash everything and boil well till the raw smell goes.
  6. Heat oil in a small pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add dry red chillies and curry leaves and fry.
  7. Pour this over the curry and mix well and serve hot..
