Ingredients:
1/2 kg tapioca / kappa / kolli kizhangu
1 cup grated coconut
2 garlic cloves
1 tsp mustard seeds
1-1 1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
salt to taste
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 dry red chillies
1 sprig curry leaves
1 tbsp coconut oil
Preparation:
- Peel and cut the tapioca into small cubes and wash thoroughly.
- Grind together grated coconut, garlic, cumin seeds and chilli powder to a coarse paste adding little water and keep it aside.
- Boil water in a pan and add tapioca pieces and cook well adding turmeric powder and salt till soft.
- Drain the water from tapioca and transfer to the same pan and mash it well using a wooden spatula when it is still hot.
- Add ground coconut paste and little water and mash everything and boil well till the raw smell goes.
- Heat oil in a small pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add dry red chillies and curry leaves and fry.
- Pour this over the curry and mix well and serve hot..
