Ingredients:


3 medium tomatoes, chopped

4 garlic cloves

7-8 dry red chillies

1 sprig curry leaves

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

3 tsp urad dal / uzhunnu

salt to taste

1 tsp mustard seeds

3 tsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. Heat 2 tsp coconut oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and urad dal and saute for a minute.
  2. Add garlic and 5-6 dry red chillies and saute for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add chopped tomatoes, few curry leaves and salt and saute well till soft and cooked.
  4. Switch off the flame and allow to cool and then grind to a paste adding about 1/2 cup of water.
  5. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add 2 dry red chillies and curry leaves.
  6. Add this tempering to the chutney and mix well. Serve with idli / dosa...
