Ingredients:


1 1/2 cup broken wheat / nurukku gothambu

1 small onion, finely chopped 

1 tsp ginger, finely chopped

2-3 green chillies, finely chopped

1 tomato

3 tbsp beans, chopped

3 tbsp carrot, chopped

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

1/2-1 tsp chilli powder

3 cup water

1 tsp mustard seeds

1/2 tsp urad dal

2 dry red chillies

1 sprig curry leaves

salt to taste

2 tbsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. In a pan, roast the broken wheat for 5 minutes. Then wash it and drain the water and keep it aside.
  2. Grind tomato to a paste and keep it aside.
  3. Heat coconut oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
  4. Add urad dal, dry red chillies, curry leaves, chopped onion, ginger and green chillies and saute till transparent.
  5. Add chopped beans and carrot and saute well.
  6. Add turmeric powder and chilli powder and mix well.
  7. Add tomato paste and mix well till all the water dries up.
  8. Then add 3 cups of water and salt and mix well and when it starts to boil, add drained broken wheat and mix well.
  9. Cook covered at low flame, stirring in between, till cooked and all the water evaporates.
  10. Switch off the flame and keep covered for few minutes and then serve...
