Ingredients:
2 medium tomatoes, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1 green chilli, chopped
2 garlic cloves, chopped
1 1/2 tsp kashmiri chilli powder
1 tbsp gram flour / besan / kadala maavu
salt to taste
1/2-1 tsp sugar
1 tsp mustard seeds
2-3 dry red chillies
1 sprig curry leaves
1 1/2 -2 tbsp coconut oil
Preparation:
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and add garlic, green chilli and onion and saute well.
- Add chopped tomatoes and saute well until it turns soft.
- Reduce the flame to low and add kashmiri chilli powder and salt and mix well.
- Add gram flour and mix well till the raw smell goes.
- Switch off the flame and allow to cool and then grind to a paste adding little water.
- Heat 1/2-1 tbsp oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and add dry red chillies and curry leaves.
- Add the ground paste and enough water ( about 1 1/2 cup ) and mix well.
- Adjust the salt and add sugar and allow to boil.
- Remove from the flame and serve with idli , dosa etc...
