Ingredients:


2 medium tomatoes, chopped

1 medium onion, chopped

1 green chilli, chopped

2 garlic cloves, chopped

1 1/2 tsp kashmiri chilli powder

1 tbsp gram flour / besan / kadala maavu

salt to taste

1/2-1 tsp sugar

1 tsp mustard seeds

2-3 dry red chillies

1 sprig curry leaves

1 1/2 -2 tbsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan and add garlic, green chilli and onion and saute well.
  2. Add chopped tomatoes and saute well until it turns soft.
  3. Reduce the flame to low and add kashmiri chilli powder and salt and mix well.
  4. Add gram flour and mix well till the raw smell goes.
  5. Switch off the flame and allow to cool and then grind to a paste adding little water.
  6. Heat 1/2-1 tbsp oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and add dry red chillies and curry leaves.
  7. Add the ground paste and enough water ( about 1 1/2 cup ) and mix well.
  8. Adjust the salt and add sugar and allow to boil.
  9. Remove from the flame and serve with idli , dosa etc...
