Ingredients:
2 cups flour
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp yeast
110 ml lukewarm milk
1/4 cup sugar
3 tbsp / 45 gm unsalted butter, melted
1 egg
1 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
oil for frying
1/4 cup sugar, to coat the donuts
Preparation:
- In a large mixing bowl, add warm milk, sugar, yeast, salt, egg and vanilla essence and mix until combined.
- Add melted butter and mix well.
- Add plain flour and slowly mix until the flour comes together and knead to make a dough for 8-10 minutes until soft and smooth dough.
- Transfer into a lightly greased bowl and brush with some oil. Cover and let it rest for 1-2 hours until the dough reaches double the size.
- Punch to release the air and then lightly dust countertop with flour and shape the dough into a log and divide equally.
- Then roll out and shape each section into a long log and twist the dough, one side over the other like a two-strand braid.
- Seal the ends to avoid unravelling while frying as shown below...




8.Place them in a tray lined with baking paper and cover and let it rest for 30 minutes.
9.Heat oil in a pan on low flame and carefully drop the donuts and fry until golden brown.
10.Remove from the oil and transfer into a plate lined with paper towel.
11.Then coat with sugar while they are still hot. Enjoy..
