Ingredients:


1 bunch / 2 cups onion flower stalk ( ulli poovu / ulli thandu ), finely chopped

3/4 cup grated coconut

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

2 garlic cloves

3 green chillies

5-6 shallots

1 tsp mustard seeds

1 tsp urad dal

2 dry red chillies

1 sprig curry leaves

salt to taste

1 tbsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. Crush together grated coconut, garlic, green chillies and turmeric powder and keep it aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
  3. Add urad dal and dry red chillies and fry till brown and add curry leaves.
  4. Add sliced shallots and saute well.
  5. Add the chopped onion flower stalk and mix well and cook covered at low flame, stirring occasionally.
  6. Add salt to this and mix well.
  7. Then add the crushed coconut and stir well and cook at low flame for 3-4 minutes until dry and the raw smell is gone.
