Ingredients:
1 bunch / 2 cups onion flower stalk ( ulli poovu / ulli thandu ), finely chopped
3/4 cup grated coconut
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
2 garlic cloves
3 green chillies
5-6 shallots
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urad dal
2 dry red chillies
1 sprig curry leaves
salt to taste
1 tbsp coconut oil
Preparation:
- Crush together grated coconut, garlic, green chillies and turmeric powder and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
- Add urad dal and dry red chillies and fry till brown and add curry leaves.
- Add sliced shallots and saute well.
- Add the chopped onion flower stalk and mix well and cook covered at low flame, stirring occasionally.
- Add salt to this and mix well.
- Then add the crushed coconut and stir well and cook at low flame for 3-4 minutes until dry and the raw smell is gone.
- Remove from the flame and serve with rice...
