Vendakka Thairu Curry / Okra Curd Curry

Ingredients:
250 gm okra / vendakka
1 1/4 cup yogurt / curd
1/2 onion, chopped
1 tbsp ginger, crushed
3 green chillies, chopped
1 small tomato (3 tbsp) , chopped
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp cumin seeds
1 tsp urad dal
2 dry red chillies
1 sprig curry leaves
salt to taste
1 1/2 tbsp coconut oil
Preparation:
- Wash and chop the okra into pieces.
- Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add cumin seeds, urad dal, dry red chillies and curry leaves.
- Add chopped okra and mix well.
- Add crushed ginger and chopped green chillies and saute well till the okra gets cooked.
- Add salt, turmeric powder and asafoetida and mix well till the raw smell goes.
- Then add chopped tomato into this and saute well till soft. Switch off the flame.
- In a bowl, add beaten yogurt and chopped onion and mix well.
- Add sautéed okra and mix well. Adjust the salt and serve with rice...
