Ingredients:
2 cups wheat flour
warm water, as required
2 tsp coconut oil
salt to taste
Preparation:
- Place the wheat flour in a cloth and steam cook it for 15 minutes.
- Remove it and allow to cool and then crush / mix well with your hand to remove any lumps.
- Heat about 2 cups of water in a pan adding salt and coconut oil to lukewarm water.
- Pour this warm water as required little by little to wheat flour ( about 1 - 1 1/2 cup warm water) and mix well with spatula. Then knead with your hand until the dough becomes soft.
- Grease the idiyappam maker/ press and idli plates with little oil to prevent sticking.
- Fill the dough in an idiyappam maker/ press. Sprinkle little coconut on idli plates and gently rotate/press little dough and sprinkle coconut on top.
- Place the idli plates in a steamer and steam cook for 15 minutes or until done.
- Serve with any curries of your choice...
