Ingredients:


250 gm achinga payar / long beans

1/4 cup cherupayar / green gram ( 1/2-3/4 cup cooked )

1/2 onion, chopped

1/2 cup grated coconut

1/4 tsp cumin seeds

1/4 tsp turmeric powder

2 big green chillies

1 garlic clove

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

2 dry red chillies

1 sprig curry leaves

1 tbsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. Soak green gram in water overnight and pressure cook it adding enough water and salt. Drain the water and keep it aside.
  2. Wash and chop the long beans into small pieces.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and add dry red chillies and curry leaves.
  4. Add chopped onion and saute till soft.
  5. Add chopped long beans and mix well. Add salt and 3 tbsp water and mix well and cook covered at low flame.
  6. In the meantime, grind grated coconut, cumin seeds, turmeric powder, green chillies and garlic together to a coarse mixture.
  7. Then add cooked green gram and coconut mixture and mix well and cook covered at low flame for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Open the lid and mix well for a minute. Remove from the flame and serve with rice...
