Ingredients:


3/4 cup green gram / cherupayar

1 small tomato, chopped

3-4 green chilles, chopped

1/2 small onion, chopped

2 sprig curry leaves

salt to taste

3/4 cup thick coconut milk

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped

2 tbsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. In a pressure cooker, add washed green gram, chopped tomato, onion, green chillies, curry leaves, salt and 1 cup of water and cook for 4 whistles at medium flame.
  2. Once the pressure releases, open the cooker and add thick coconut milk and mix well. When it starts to boil, switch off the flame.
  3. In the meantime, heat coconut oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
  4. Add curry leaves and chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
  5. Add the cherupayar curry into this and mix well for 1-2 minutes. Adjust the salt and water consistency.
  6. Remove from the flame and serve with appam, idiyappam, puttu etc...
