Ingredients:
3/4 cup green gram / cherupayar
1 small tomato, chopped
3-4 green chilles, chopped
1/2 small onion, chopped
2 sprig curry leaves
salt to taste
3/4 cup thick coconut milk
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
2 tbsp coconut oil
Preparation:
- In a pressure cooker, add washed green gram, chopped tomato, onion, green chillies, curry leaves, salt and 1 cup of water and cook for 4 whistles at medium flame.
- Once the pressure releases, open the cooker and add thick coconut milk and mix well. When it starts to boil, switch off the flame.
- In the meantime, heat coconut oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds.
- Add curry leaves and chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
- Add the cherupayar curry into this and mix well for 1-2 minutes. Adjust the salt and water consistency.
- Remove from the flame and serve with appam, idiyappam, puttu etc...
