Chicken Eenth Pidi / Cycas Nut Powder Dumplings in Chicken Gravy

Ingredients:


For Eenth Pidi ( dumplings with cycas nut powder)


1 cup eenth podi (flour) / cycas nut powder

1 cup boiling water

salt to taste


For Chicken Gravy


1/2 kg chicken, cleaned

1 cup grated coconut

2 shallots

1 tsp fennel seeds

2 sprig curry leaves

2 tsp chilli powder (adjust to your taste)

2 tsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp garam masala

1 onion, finely chopped

1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste

2 green chillies, chopped

1 tomato, chopped

salt to taste

2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped

2 tbsp oil


Preparation:


  1. Boil 1 cup of water with little salt in a pan.
  2. In a bowl, add the eenth flour and pour the boiling water and mix well using a wooden spoon.
  3. When the dough is still warm, knead it well to a soft and smooth dough.
  4. Make small balls out of the dough and slightly flatten it and steam cook in a steamer for 10-12 minutes..Keep it aside..

Chicken Gravy Preparation:


  1. In a pan , dry roast grated coconut with shallots, fennel seeds and 1 sprig curry leaves till light brown colour.
  2. Add chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and garam masala and saute until the raw smell goes.
  3. Remove from the flame and let it cool and then grind it to a smooth paste adding enough water and keep it aside.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and add chopped onion and little salt and saute well till soft.
  5. Add ginger-garlic paste, chopped green chillies and 1 sprig curry leaves and saute well.
  6. Add chopped tomato and saute well until tomato turns soft.
  7. Now add cleaned chicken pieces and salt into this and saute well for 4-5 minutes.
  8. Add the ground coconut paste and mix everything together.
  9. Add little water to adjust the consistency and cook covered till the chicken is cooked.
  10. Then add the prepared dumplings, mix well and cook on medium - low flame for 5-7 minutes or until the gravy is thick and well coated with the dumplings....
  11. Garnish with chopped coriander leaves....Serve as a main dish...
