Ingredients:
1/2 kg crabs, cleaned
22-25 shallots, sliced
10 garlic cloves, chopped
1" piece ginger, chopped
3 green chillies, chopped
1 big tomato, chopped
2 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder
1 tbsp coriander powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/2 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp crushed pepper
1/4 tsp garam masala
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 sprigs curry leaves
salt to taste
3-4 tbsp coconut oil
Preparation:
- Heat coconut oil in a pan / clay pot and splutter mustard seeds.
- Add chopped garlic, ginger, green chillies and curry leaves and saute.
- Add sliced shallots and saute well adding little salt till golden brown.
- Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala and saute well for a minute at low flame till the raw smell goes.
- Add chopped tomato into this and saute well till soft.
- Add cleaned crabs and salt and mix well and cook covered for 5 minutes.
- Then add enough water and cook covered for 10 minutes or till the crabs are cooked well, stirring in between.
- Open the lid and add crushed pepper and mix well till the water dries. Switch off the flame and serve hot..
