Ingredients:


1/2 kg crabs, cleaned

22-25 shallots, sliced

10 garlic cloves, chopped

1" piece ginger, chopped

3 green chillies, chopped

1 big tomato, chopped

2 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder

1 tbsp coriander powder

1/2 tsp turmeric powder

1/2 tsp garam masala

1/2 tsp crushed pepper

1/4 tsp garam masala

1 tsp mustard seeds

2 sprigs curry leaves

salt to taste

3-4 tbsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. Heat coconut oil in a pan / clay pot and splutter mustard seeds.
  2. Add chopped garlic, ginger, green chillies and curry leaves and saute.
  3. Add sliced shallots and saute well adding little salt till golden brown.
  4. Add turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala and saute well for a minute at low flame till the raw smell goes.
  5. Add chopped tomato into this and saute well till soft.
  6. Add cleaned crabs and salt and mix well and cook covered for 5 minutes.
  7. Then add enough water and cook covered for 10 minutes or till the crabs are cooked well, stirring in between.
  8. Open the lid and add crushed pepper and mix well till the water dries. Switch off the flame and serve hot..
