Ingredients:


1 cup idli rice

1 tbsp urad dal

1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds

1 cup cucumber, peeled and chopped

1/2 cup grated coconut

1/2 cup aval (rice flakes / beaten rice)

salt to taste


Preparation:


  1. Wash the rice, urad dal and fenugreek seeds and soak in water for 4-5 hours.
  2. Soak the aval / beaten rice in little water for 10-15 minutes.
  3. In a blender, add drained rice, urad dal, fenugreek seeds, chopped cucumber, grated coconut and soaked aval and grind well adding little water to a smooth batter.
  4. Pour the batter into a bowl and mix well for 3-4 minutes and keep it covered for fermentation in a warm place for 8 hours or overnight.
  5. Once fermented, add salt into the batter and mix well.
  6. Heat a pan / tawa on medium flame and apply little oil if required and pour a ladleful of batter and just spread the batter very lightly to make a small and slightly thick dosa.
  7. Cover and cook at low flame for 1-2 minutes.
  8. Repeat the same with the remaining batter and serve with any chutney / curry of your choice...
