Ingredients:


2 cup white aval / poha / beaten rice

2 cup yogurt, beaten

1 cup milk, or as required

2 green chillies, finely chopped

1 tbsp ginger, finely chopped

1 small onion, finely chopped

1/4 tsp asafoetida

1 tbsp peanuts / ground nuts

1 medium carrot, grated

2-3 dry red chillies

1 sprig curry leaves

1 tsp mustard seeds

2 tsp urad dal

2 tsp chana dal /kadalaparippu

1/2 tsp sugar

2 tbsp ghee

salt to taste

2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped

1-2 tbsp pomegranate seeds


Preparation:


  1. Wash the poha / aval and drain the water completely.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add urad dal and chana dal and saute till golden.
  3. Add dry red chillies and curry leaves and saute.
  4. Add chopped ginger and green chillies and saute.Add peanuts and saute till golden.
  5. Add finely chopped onion and saute well.
  6. Add grated carrot and mix well. Add asafoetida powder and salt and mix well.
  7. Switch off the flame and transfer to a bowl to cool.
  8. Then add the beaten yogurt and mix well.
  9. Add drained poha / aval into this and mix well. Add required milk into this and mix well.
  10. Adjust the salt and add sugar and chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
  11. Transfer to a serving plate / bowl and garnish with little grated carrot, coriander leaves and pomegranate seeds..
