Ingredients:


1 cup jeerakasala rice / raw rice / basmati rice

1/2 cup black chickpeas / kadala

1 onion, sliced

1 cup grated coconut

salt to taste

2 dry red chillies

1 sprig curry leaves

1 tsp mustard seeds

2 tbsp oil


Preparation:


  1. Soak kadala / chickpeas in water for 8 hours or overnight.
  2. Wash the rice, drain it and keep it aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and splutter mustard seeds.
  4. Add dry red chillies, curry leaves, sliced onion and salt and saute well until soft.
  5. Add the drained rice, soaked chickpeas and grated coconut and mix well.
  6. Then add 2 cups of water and mix well and cook for 2 whistles.
  7. Open the cooker and mix well. Serve hot as a breakfast item....
