Ingredients:
1 cup jeerakasala rice / raw rice / basmati rice
1/2 cup black chickpeas / kadala
1 onion, sliced
1 cup grated coconut
salt to taste
2 dry red chillies
1 sprig curry leaves
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 tbsp oil
Preparation:
- Soak kadala / chickpeas in water for 8 hours or overnight.
- Wash the rice, drain it and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker and splutter mustard seeds.
- Add dry red chillies, curry leaves, sliced onion and salt and saute well until soft.
- Add the drained rice, soaked chickpeas and grated coconut and mix well.
- Then add 2 cups of water and mix well and cook for 2 whistles.
- Open the cooker and mix well. Serve hot as a breakfast item....
