Ingredients:


2 cups plain flour

3 tbsp + 1 tsp sugar

1/2 tsp salt

1 cup lukewarm milk

1 large egg, beaten

1 tsp yeast

1 tsp vanilla essence

oil, for frying


Preparation:


  1. Add lukewarm milk, 1 tsp sugar and yeast in a bowl / jug and gently mix and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, add plain flour, 3 tbsp sugar and salt and mix until combined.
  3. Add beaten egg and vanilla essence and mix.
  4. Add milk-yeast mixture and mix until incorporated.
  5. Then knead with your hand for 2-3 minutes. ( If the dough is dry, add 1-2 tsp milk or water).
  6. Cover and let it rest in a warm place for 60-90 minutes. Gently mix with a spatula.
  7. Heat oil in a deep pan on a medium flame.
  8. Apply some oil in fingers and shape the dough with your fingers and drop it carefully to hot oil. ( This donuts will sink to the bottom of the pan and then pop back.)
  9. Flip them in between and fry until golden brown. Drain on a paper towel.
  10. Sieve some powdered sugar ( icing sugar ) over them and serve...
