Papaya - Unakka Chemmeen / Dried Prawns Curry

Ingredients:
2 cup raw papaya, peeled and cut into small cubes
1/2 cup dried prawns / unakka chemmeen
1 cup grated coconut
1 1/2 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
3 shallots
2-3 shallots, sliced
salt to taste
2 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp mustard seeds
2 dry red chillies
1 sprig curry leaves
Preparation:
- Peel and chop the raw papaya into small cubes.
- Grind grated coconut and 3 shallots together to a smooth paste adding little water and keep it aside.
- Heat little oil in a pan and roast the dried prawns until aromatic and keep it aside.
- In a pan, add the chopped papaya and cook it adding chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt adding enough water until tender.
- Then add the roasted dried prawns and mix well.
- Add the coconut paste and enough water and mix well and cook for 5 minutes at low flame. Adjust the salt and switch off the flame.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil in a small pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add 2-3 sliced shallots, dry red chillies and curry leaves and fry for a minute.
- Pour this over the curry and keep it covered till ready to serve....Mix gently and serve hot...
