Ingredients:


250 gm pumpkin / mathanga , peeled and cut into cubes

150 gm jaggery

1/2 tsp cardamom powder

1/4 tsp cumin powder

a pinch of salt

1/2 cup grated coconut

1/2-1 cup rice flour


Preparation:


  1. Peel and cut pumpkin into cubes.
  2. In a saucepan, melt jaggery adding 1/2 cup of water. Strain it and keep it aside.
  3. In a pressure cooker, add pumpkin cubes and melted jaggery and cook for 3 whistles.
  4. Then mash the cooked pumpkin and add cardamom powder, cumin powder and salt and mix well.
  5. Add grated coconut into this and mix well.
  6. Then add rice flour as required little by little and knead well to ada consistency dough.
  7. Make small balls from the dough, spread on the banana leaf and fold the leaf in half.
  8. Boil water in a steamer and place the ada in the steamer and steam cook for 10-12 minutes until cooked...Serve it hot as breakfast or a snack…
