Pumpkin Idiyappam

Pumpkin Idiyappam is a delightful and healthy South Indian breakfast or dinner item. Made with a smooth pumpkin puree and rice flour, this steamed dish offers a soft texture and a subtle sweetness, perfect to serve with your favorite side dish.

Ingredients:


1 cup ripe pumpkin pieces

1 cup rice flour / idiyappam flour

salt to taste

water, as required


Preparation:


  1. Peel and chop pumpkin into cubes and blend it to a smooth puree adding little water.
  2. In a pan, add the pumpkin puree, salt and required water and boil.
  3. Then add the rice flour and and mix thoroughly by stirring with a wooden spoon.
  4. Add hot water if required and knead well with your hands until the dough becomes soft.
  5. Grease the idiyappam maker/press and idli plates with little oil to prevent sticking.
  6. Fill the dough in an idiyappam maker/ press and rotate/press little dough gently into the greased idli plates.
  7. Place the idli plates in a steamer and steam cook for 8-10 minutes or until done...Serve hot with side dish of your choice....
