Ingredients:


250 gm mussels / kallummakaya, cleaned

2 tsp chilli powder

1/4 tsp + 1/4 tsp turmeric powder

2 cups semolina / rava / thari

1 tbsp crushed ginger-garlic

2 green chillies, chopped

1 big onion, sliced

1 tomato, chopped

1 tsp garam masala

1/4 cup coriander leaves, chopped

2 tbsp mint leaves

1 tbsp lemon juice

salt to taste

2 tsp + 1 tbsp ghee

3 tbsp oil

fried onions

fried cashew nuts and raisins


Preparation:


  1. Clean the mussels and marinate with chilli powder, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and salt and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat 2 tsp ghee in a pan and roast the semolina and keep it aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and fry the marinated mussels and keep it aside.
  4. In the same pan, add 1 tbsp ghee and crushed ginger-garlic, green chillies, sliced onion and salt and saute well.
  5. Add chopped tomato and saute well till soft.
  6. Add garam masala and 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and mix well.
  7. Add fried mussels, mint leaves, coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix well and cook covered for 2-3 minutes.
  8. Add roasted semolina into this and mix well.
  9. Then add 2 cups of hot water and cook covered till done, stirring in between.
  10. Garnish with fried onions, cashew nuts and raisins and serve hot...
