Ingredients:


1 cup raw rice / pachari

2 tbsp cooked rice

1/2 tsp cumin seeds

3 cardamoms

1/4 tsp salt

250 gm jaggery / 1 cup grated jaggery

1/4 tsp baking soda

2 tbsp coconut slices/ thenga kothu

5-6 shallots, sliced

2 tbsp coconut oil


Preparation:


  1. Wash and soak the raw rice in water for 3-4 hours.
  2. In a blender, add drained rice, cooked rice, cumin seeds, cardamoms, salt and 1/2 cup of water and grind together to a smooth batter and transfer the batter to a bowl.
  3. In a pan, melt the jaggery adding 1/2 cup of water and strain this hot jaggery syrup to the batter and mix well.
  4. Add baking soda and mix well.
  5. Heat coconut oil in a thick bottomed non stick pan and add coconut slices and shallots and fry till golden brown.
  6. Then pour the batter to the pan and cook covered at low flame for 10-15 minutes till done.
