Ingredients:
1 1/2 cup puttu podi / rice flour
1 1/2 cup pineapple, chopped
1/2 cup grated coconut (or as required)
salt to taste
Preparation:
- In a blender, add pineapple pieces and grind well to a smooth paste without adding water.
- Add the puttu podi and salt in a bowl and add pineapple paste little by little and mix well with hand without any lumps till it becomes moist. Keep it covered for 10 minutes.
- Take a puttu maker and layer it with grated coconut first, then the puttupodi and then the grated coconut again. Repeat the process till the puttu maker is filled. ( Here I used chiratta puttu maker)
- Fill pressure cooker/ puttu kudam with 3-4 cups of water and bring to a boil.
- Place the puttu maker on top of it and steam cook for 5-7 minutes or until the steam starts coming out from the top of puttu maker.
- Remove it to a plate and serve hot with any curry...
- Can add finely chopped pineapple pieces along with coconut for layering...
- The method to check the consistency of puttu podi - When we hold it should have shape and when we break it must be easily breakable.
