Coconut Rava Upma


1 cup roasted rava / semolina
1 1/4 cup boiling water
1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
1 green chilli, finely chopped
1 tsp ginger, finely chopped
3/4 cup grated coconut
1 sprig curry leaves
3 dry red chillies, broken
1 tsp mustard seeds
1/2 tsp urad dal
salt to taste
1 tbsp ghee


  1. Heat ghee in a pan and splutter mustard seeds and fry urad dal till brown.
  2. Add dry red chillies, curry leaves, onion, ginger and green chillies and saute well.
  3. When colour starts to change, add roasted rava and salt and mix well.
  4. Add boiling water little by little, stirring continuously, till soft without forming lumps ( break the lumps using the spatula).
  5. Then add grated coconut and mix well. Switch off the flame and serve…
