Ingredients:
1 cup basmati rice
5-6 big gooseberry, grated
2-3 green chillies, chopped
1/2 tsp ginger, finely chopped
10 cashew nuts
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp urad dal
1 tsp chana dal
1/4 tsp asafoetida
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
1 sprig curry leaves
salt to taste
1-1 1/2 tbsp oil
Preparation:
- In a large pan, boil 4-5 cups of water and cook the rice with salt for about 15 minutes or till done. Drain the water and keep it aside.
- Grate the gooseberry ( remove the seeds ) and keep it aside.
- Heat oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add chana dal, urad dal and cashew nuts and saute till golden.
- Add green chillies, ginger and curry leaves to this and saute for a minute.Â
- Add grated gooseberry and salt and mix well for 2 minutes.
- Reduce the flame and add turmeric powder and asafoetida and mix well for few seconds.
- Now add the cooked rice, mix well and cook for 3-4 minutes on low flame till the rice heated up well.
- Remove from the flame and serve hot…
