Kallummakaya / Mussels Dry Roast

Ingredients:

1/2 kg cleaned mussels / kallummakaya
1 tbsp + 1 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1/4 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp pepper powder
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1 big onion, sliced
1 small tomato, chopped
salt to taste
2 sprigs curry leaves
2 tbsp coriander leaves, chopped
coconut oil, as required

Preparation:

  1. Clean the mussels and marinate it with 1 tbsp chilli powder, turmeric powder, pepper powder, ginger-garlic paste, garam masala and salt and keep it aside for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat coconut oil in a pan and fry the marinated mussels at medium flame till brown and keep it aside.
  3. In the same pan, heat little oil and add sliced onion and saute well adding little salt.
  4. Add chopped tomato and saute well till soft.
  5. Add fried mussels and mix well. Adjust salt and add 1 tsp chilli powder and curry leaves and saute well till dry.
  6. Add coriander leaves and mix well. Switch off the flame and serve it as a side dish….
