Korean Fried Cauliflower

Ingredients:

1 medium cauliflower, cut into florets
1/4 cup plain flour
1/4 cup rice flour
1/4 cup cornflour
salt to taste
1 tsp pepper powder
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1 tsp ginger, finely chopped
1 tsp garlic, finely chopped
1 green chilli, chopped
1 tsp soy sauce
1/4 cup korean chilli sauce ( I used Heinz Korean style sauce )
2 tsp tomato sauce
oil, as required
sesame seeds, to garnish
2 tbsp spring onions, chopped

Preparation:

  1. Boil water in a pan adding little salt and switch off the flame. Add the cauliflower florets into this hot water and keep for 5 minutes and then drain the water and allow it to cool down.
  2. In a bowl, add rice flour, plain flour, cornflour, salt and pepper powder and mix well. Add 1/4 cup of water and mix well to a thick batter.
  3. Dip each floret into the batter and then coat with bread crumbs.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry the marinated cauliflower in 2-3 batches in hot oil over medium flame until golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the oil and drain onto paper towel.
  5. Heat 1 tsp oil in a pan and add chopped ginger, garlic, green chilli, soy sauce, korean chilli sauce and tomato sauce, mix well and cook at medium flame, stirring until the mixture thickens.
  6. Then toss the fried cauliflower in the sauce until evenly coated.
  7. Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions.. Serve hot…
