Purple Cabbage Pakoda


1/2 purple cabbage, thinly sliced
1 large onion, thinly sliced
2 green chillies, chopped
small piece ginger, chopped
1 sprig curry leaves, chopped
1/4 cup plain flour
1/4 cup gram flour / kadalamavu
1/4 cup rice flour
1 tbsp kashmiri chilli powder (add to your spice level)
1/4 tsp baking soda
salt to taste
oil, for frying


  1. In a bowl, add sliced purple cabbage, onion, chopped green chillies, ginger and curry leaves and mix well.
  2. Add plain flour, gram flour, rice flour, chilli powder, salt and baking soda to this and mix well with hand adding little water.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, drop little batter using hand and fry till it turns golden brown and crisp at medium flame.
  4. Remove it from the oil and drain them on a paper towel….Serve hot with tea..
