Little Millet Punugulu


2 cups thick little millet idli batter
1 tbsp rava / semolina
1 tbsp rice flour
1 tsp cumin seeds
2 tbsp onion, finely chopped
1 tsp ginger, finely chopped
2 green chillies, finely chopped
2 tbsp coriander leaves, finely chopped
1 small sprig curry leaves, finely chopped
a pinch of baking soda
salt to taste
oil, for frying


  1. In a bowl, take the little millet batter and add rava, rice flour, cumin seeds, chopped onion, ginger, green chillies, coriander leaves, curry leaves, baking soda and salt and mix well to a thick batter. Keep it aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a deep frying pan on medium flame and drop in small balls of batter carefully with your hand or spoon into the hot oil.
  3. Fry them on both sides at medium flame till golden and crisp.
  4. Remove from the oil and drain them onto paper towel. Fry them in batches…Serve hot with chutney…
