Ingredients:
2 cups wheat flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp sugar
salt to taste
1/2 cup thick yogurt
2 tsp oil
Topping:
black sesame seeds
garlic, finely chopped
coriander leaves, chopped
melted butter, for brushing
Preparation:
- In a bowl, add wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar and salt and mix well.
- Add yogurt into this and mix well. Add enough water (about 1/2 cup water) and 2 tsp oil and knead well to a smooth dough.
- Spread little oil on top and keep it covered for 1 hour.
- After 1 hour, the dough becomes double in size and then divides the dough into equal parts.
- Dust with dry flour and roll the dough ball into an oval shape about 1/8 inch thick.
- Now sprinkle black sesame seeds, chopped garlic and chopped coriander leaves on it and roll slightly using rolling pin.
- Heat a tawa / pan and place the naan and cook at medium flame until bubbles starts to appear and the base is cooked and browned.
- Then lift the naan with tongs and cook the other side by placing directly on the flame.
- Move the naan all over the flame to ensure the sides and the surfaces are well cooked with some brown spots.
- Remove from the pan and brush naan with some melted butter and cover with a towel to keep warm.
